We had an amazing time in Tromsø at ISSW 2024 – International Snow Science Workshop, engaging in insightful discussions with snow and avalanche professionals from around the world. What a perfect way to kick off the anticipation for winter! ❄️❄️
Lauri Nieminen presented a poster on the performance of our sensors in Pyhätunturi last winter. We monitored the radar’s performance using Quality of Service (QoS) throughout the season. Early winter’s cold and challenging surface hoar conditions initially made it difficult to detect the snow surface, but after minor adjustments to the sensor settings, we achieved an 11% improvement in QoS, allowing for reliable snow detection in all conditions.
